Older Scout and High Adventure Programs sign-up reminder

Just a reminder that tomorrow at noon the first registration window will close for Older Scout and High Adventure Programs. If you are interested in any of these programs, please sign up ASAP. We have only 5 scouts signed up for these programs as of this writing.

George Franklin Eagle Project - Volunteers Needed

My name is George Franklin, a Life scout looking for six volunteers for my Eagle Scout Project. Do not worry if leaving the house is an issue, as this project be done at your house (details further down the email). Please take some time to read this email and consider volunteering your time to my project.

What is my project?

In our community, police sometimes must visit a home to respond to a domestic disturbance. Sometimes this happens with young children in the home. Police find it helpful to give something to those children because they may be shocked or frightened. For my Eagle Scout project, I will lead six scouts to make a total of 300 individual relief bags that boys and girls can receive to tend to this need.

Many soothing and practical items for the children will go into these bags. The bags contain mini beach balls, coloring books, beanie babies, and many more comforting items. These bags will be donated and delivered to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office.

How do I volunteer?

All of my project materials are placed in six different bins, each bin containing 50 bags, not yet made. A volunteer will be asked to receive one of these bins and put together the unmade 50 bags. An instruction list is attached on the outside of the bin. This list contains a step by step guide of how to put the bags together. See photos of the materials inside of the bins and bins themselves attached.

How can I Sign up?

Volunteers will be asked to receive one of these bins and assemble them at their homes. I have created a signup genius, which is first-come, first-serve. This signup genius is active, so make sure to sign up fast before all six spots are taken.

This signup genius will ask which day, time and place you would like to receive a bin, as well as give back the completed bin. Please request a date to receive this project before or on April 17th, and give back this project before or on April 24th.

Safety Concerns?

I have left my project bins to sit in the garage for the past three days (killing the virus if it exists).

Wear gloves whenever touching the bins, I will deliver them without the chance of contamination. The volunteers will also be asked to wear gloves when assembling the bags (gloves are taped onto the outside of the bins).

Final remarks

Please do not hesitate to email me for questions and I will get back to you within the day: George.franklin@tgeagle.org

Sign up genius link is below:

Thank you for your support.

Food Pantry Donations

Hello Everyone,

Just a reminder that tomorrow you can help out those in our community!!!
Gather food from your pantry, shop in the early hours or grab and go. Get food to donate to the food shelf! This is a great way to help the community and get service hours, while still social distancing. The drop off for food will be this week on Thursday (TOMORROW) from 6 pm to 7 pm in the back of St. Odilia by the cafeteria doors.

We all want to be able to do something during this time. Come help support the community!

Tomahawk Update

Good morning!

For those of you who may not have been dialed in to the troop meeting on Monday night, a Tomahawk update regarding fees and sign-ups:

Any scout who plans on attending Tomahawk this year is encouraged to sign up before April 15th. This way you will be locked in for any merit badges or popular high adventure programs you wish to take. If you wait until later in the spring or summer and try to sign up, you run the risk of programs being full up. As stated in my previous note, do not worry about paying the $25 deposit right now; the troop will pay it and collect from you later.

Here's the sign-up link: http://www.scouting626.com/camping/camping-events/tomahawk

As always, please email me with any questions: scoutingsabina@gmail.com

Scout Service while socially distant

Hello Everybody,

During these times of quarantine we know that there haven’t been as many opportunities for Scouts to help out and serve, so this Thursday will be collecting food at St. Odilia School to deliver to a food shelf. It will be just in time for EASTER. Service hours for this will be determined by how long it took to shop and drive, etc. and you can tell Griffin or I, Will L, when you are dropping off your food. No need to leave your car. The drop off on Thursday will be from 6 pm to 7 pm in the back of the building by the cafeteria doors.

Also, another activity we are asking you is clean up the trash around your neighborhood or park. You can record your time spent for this and to get credit please take a picture of you and your work! You will be able to send these pictures to Mrs. Moore (colleenmoore1421@gmail.com). I hope you are all doing well and decide to help out.

Thank you

MEETING (Side-Note)

If any of you need Paracord and do not have any, Mr. Blincow is willing to give you some at his home. If you need it, please email Mr. Blincow and he will get that set up for you.

MEETING (Monday, 04/06/20)

Good morning, everyone! Next week we will do our best to have our first normal meeting. As a lot of elements are different and we may need you to have certain items prepared, please read the rest of this email carefully.

First Years/Brownseas: You are working on requirements for rank advancement and your Troop Guides are requesting that you have the following with you during the meeting: Paracord, a knife, a lighter and an adult to supervise.

Older Scouts: There will be an ‘Eagle’s Nest’ with Mr. Bailey and others to help and answer questions regarding rank advancement, your Eagle Projects and other inquiries you may have.

Everyone Else: The Ten Essentials are an important thing to have, whether the purpose is to save someone’s life or protect yourself from sunburn. During the meeting we’re going to review them and their purpose so you can be more prepared when life flings all it’s got at you.

If any of you have questions please don’t hesitate to reply to this email or contact any adult necessary.

Thank you very much for regarding this email, and have an awesome day!

Reminder to Sign-Up for Tomahawk Scout Reservation

Happy Friday, everyone!

Just a short reminder to please take a few minutes to sign up for Tomahawk if your Scout(s) plan on attending this summer. As of this writing, the Tomahawk program office is still planning as if Tomahawk will go on as planned this summer. Please see their note below.

Do not worry about sending the $25 youth deposit at this time. The Troop Treasurer will find you at a later date for payment.

Here is the link for Sign-Up:http://www.scouting626.com/camping/camping-events/tomahawk

thanks!
Ms. Hashmi

----- note from Tomahawk program office ------
This is a friendly reminder that youth deposits are due April 15th. As stated in our previous email sent last week, all financial due dates are still in place. We understand that our current situation requires both flexibility and accommodation. So, if you are unable to meet deadlines, contact us prior to the payment due date to discuss alternate arrangements.

A safe camp experience is our first priority. We will continue to seek guidance from government health and education agencies to inform our decisions on summer camp operations. In the unfortunate circumstance that camps are forced to close this summer, all fees paid will be refunded.

We want to ensure that all families feel safe and comfortable sending their children to camp this summer. If a family makes a decision to no longer attend camp due to health risk, we will refund all fees paid if the request is received by our office at least one week in advance of the start of their camp session. Requests outside of this timeframe will be evaluated individually.
