CCW bake sale correction

Sorry correction. Set up is On Friday December 13th (not 11th) and take down is Sunday December 15th (not 13th). SIGN-UP GENIUS IS CORRECT.

December Court of Honour Invitation

Good evening, all. The PLC would like to invite you to this year’s December Court of Honour on December 9th inside the Courtyard in Saint Odilia. This is a very important event as we will be witnessing Cub Scouts transition into Boy Scouts as well as see many scouts earn a monumental amount of ranks and awards. There will be a Dessert Potluck before the program starts; if anyone has an idea for a dessert to bring, please feel free (the Patrol with the most Christmas-Themed Dessert gets to eat first during next meeting/campout)! The potluck will be at 6:30 with the program starting at 7:00 PM. We hope to see you all there!

2020 Friends of Scouting Campaign is Open!!

Good Evening Everyone! I have been asked to head our Friends of Scouting (FOS) Campaign which raises money to help cover the cost of Scouting for all children and maintain strong Scouting programs and camps. Without your donation, Scouting wouldn't be what it is today. Another reason to donate at this time is that if the Troop reaches our Unit Goal of $9,850, our Troops and Crew will continue to get free Merit Badges for every Scout registered. If we do not meet our goal, this would put add a big expense to our Troops budget as there are a lot of awards given out each year. Our Unit Goal needs to be met by May 15, 2020 in order to earn free Merit Badges.

At our December 9, 2019 Court of Honor, we will have a short Friends of Scouting presentation asking for your help with donations via cash, check or credit card pledges. I will have a pledge card for everyone present to fill out at this meeting. It will help me not have to make as many follow-up calls asking for help with donations if you attend the Court of Honor and fill out a pledge card. Payments do not have to be made that night but can indicate for the Council to bill you later.

Also note that there are a lot of Companies that make matching donations, Dollars for Doers and/or Volunteer Hours grants like my US Bank employer. Each year, I do the Dollar for Doers and make some kind of matching donation to my favorite charities. Companies usually make quarterly or periodic payments that you can look into with your employer.

This is my 3rd year heading FOS and I would like to say Thank You to everyone who has donated in the past and hope that you will consider donating again this year to help support our Troop. Even if you have never donated before know that the smallest of donations would be very much appreciated it. Thank you for your consideration!

Holiday Ball Wreath Confirmation

Good morning!

I heard from 2 scouts last night about their missing Holiday Ball wreath orders. I wanted to reach out to you because you had Holiday Ball wreaths in your order to ask you to double check you have the correct number or have already delivered the correct product. Mr. Blincow is going to the wreath distributor this morning and will purchase additional Holiday Ball wreaths if any are still missing. Please could confirm your order was correct and we won't need to purchase any additional. Being a holiday week, it would be difficult to arrange another drive to pick up product.

**Urgent Action Needed**. Re Recharter

It has been a busy few weeks for our troops and the holidays are fast approaching. Before we celebrate Thanksgiving this week we are asking for you to please respond to our charter survey to let us know your intentions for 2020. If you have already responded we thank you and will be following up directly to answer any questions you may have and coordinate payment.
If you have yet to respond please take a few moments to answer our survey. We want to remind you that the fee for 2020 is $120.00 for the first scout in a family and $60.00 for each additional scout. We also are adding an option this year for registered leaders to cover some or all of their recharter expenses.

Recharter 2020 Due by 12/13/19
Please take a few moments to let us know your intentions for recharter for 2020. 2019 has been an amazing year for the Troops and Crew and with the plans already in the works, 2020 will be even better. The fee to recharter will be $120 for the first scout in each family and $60 for each scout after. There is also an option to add on a Boy’s Life subscription for an additional $12.00. If you child is 14 years old and would be interested in any high adventure activities please consider dual registration for the crew. There is no fee associated with dual registration. We simply would need an additional application completed by you at an upcoming troop meeting.

Holiday ball orders

Good evening, if you are missing a holiday ball from your wreath order please email me tonight.

Mr Blincow is going to the wreath distributor in the morning and would be able to pick up holiday balls to fulfill our orders.

If you have not checked your centerpieces please check tonight to make sure you do not have a holiday ball by mistake. If you find one please send me an emai. That way we don't have to buy replacements for things that were already delivered

Happy Thanksgiving! (And Other Items)

Good evening everybody, and a very happy Thanksgiving! We hope you all will enjoy time with family and friends in the next couple of days.

In honour of the previous statement, the PLC has agreed to not have a meeting on the 25th of November. This can be a week to relax and have some fun. This will instead be a PLC meeting to go over information in greater detail (Patrol Leaders especially should be there).

The next meeting will be December 2nd, and will involve a game of knot-tying with some spectacular prizes! Trust me, you’ll all want to be there.

We recognise there has been some mix-ups with wreaths. A number of Scouts are missing Itascan Wreaths, and they can get these at the upcoming Church Wreath Sales (11/24, 12/02, 12/08).

There has also been a mix-up between the Holiday Balls and the Centrepieces. We need everyone to check whether they don’t have the wrong one, as we had only ordered 12 Holiday Balls.

If there are any other items that Scouts are missing, please email Mrs. India Black on Scoutbook and that can be coordinated.

We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with good memories and good times, and we’ll see you on December 2nd!

Luke Wallisch Eagle Project Working Day - Nov. 23

Hello Scouts,

I am Luke Wallisch, emailing you because I am working on completing my Eagle Scout award and as a requirement, I need to enlist the help of my fellow scouters to work on an “Eagle Project”. This project will consist of building a food serving and storage table for my local church. I need your help Saturday, November 23, to complete this project. There will be two sessions, one from 10:00 am to noon and one from noon to 2:00. THERE WILL BE FOOD PROVIDED!!!! Between shifts, there will be a lunch available and snacks and warm drinks during the work session. Please try to bring work gloves and safety glasses for your own use. Make sure to dress for the weather, it will be under cover, but still exposed to the outside cold. We will carry out the project at my house 1339 Mackubin Street, St. Paul MN.

Meeting Time 6 p.m. Monday 11/18 - Wreath Delivery – Unloading, sorting and pick up instructions

Many hand make light work!
Our wreath order will be delivered Monday evening at St. Odilia, please arrive at 6:00 p.m. to help organize the area for unloading. We ordered over 1000 wreaths and need scouts to work together to unload and organize the wreaths for pick up. We won’t start wreath pick up until unloading is done and the order is double checked.
For pick up, each scout will be given a pick sheet with the total for each item in their order.

Other Things:
Meet in the parking lot at the west door outside of the gym, wear warm clothes and bring work gloves.

Please be very careful to only take a bow if your item is one that comes with a separate bow. Your pick sheet will indicate the number of bows for your order.

Unless you have already made confirmed arrangements by today Friday 11/15 any additional individual sales from the church sales inventory can be arranged at one of the Sunday church sales on 11/24, 12/1 and 12/8.

For taking your order home, you may want to plan on having a few old sheets in your car to protect the floor/seats from the pine needles.

We are beginning our annual recharter process. As was communicated previously we are going to be increasing our fees this year to $120.00 ( $10/month) for the first scout in a family and $60.00 ($5/month) for each additional scout. We are also offering the Boys Life magazine at $12.00 per subscription.

Please complete the following survey to let us know your intentions for 2020. If you have a scout that is 14 years or older we encourage you to dual register your scout for the Venturing Crew. There is no additional cost for dual registration. We will have applications available at all upcoming meetings.

SERVICE on Tues

Tuesday Nov 12th is a community event packaging sandwiches for those in need right here in Shoreview!! Loving One Another is the organization we will benefit. At 630, people will be meeting at the Winkin Rooster and packing with the LIONS Club will begin at 715. Doug McCullough will be discounting sandwiches for those that participate.

Nov 11th Committee & Parent MTG 730-830 St Monica RM * Key information for recharter** please read

Greetings Parents of 626,

It is the time of year where we begin planning for the next year for our Troops and Crew. We are beginning the process to re-charter our units for 2020. On Monday, November 11th at 7:30 PM we will be meeting as a parent committee to discuss the re-charter process as well as the fees associated with the scouting programs.

As you may be aware there will be an increase in annual fees our unit is charged per scouter. In turn our unit will need to raise our annual re-charter fee to cover these increases. We will be raising the 2020 re-charter fee to $120.00 for the first scout in each family and $60.00 for each additional scout.

Another rate increase for 2021 is likely next year. In 2021 District has the option to add fees not to exceed National fees. This fee has not been set yet.
We are committed to offering the lowest price for all youth to partake in scouting while covering our costs.

Even with the discussion of increase cost in programing it is important to remember that the scouting program is an excellent value and provides so much for all of our Scouts. If you have concerns about the increases there are options available. Please reach out to your Scout Master, Crew Leader or the Committee Chair.

We encourage all parents to attend the meeting on Monday to review the plan for 2020 and welcome feedback and comments. In addition, we will be sending out a re-charter survey in the coming days. Please complete the survey to let us know your intentions for re-chartering your scout in 2020.

Crystal Cave Campout (wee - alliteration)

Hey Troop 626,
This weekend is the cave campout at Eagle Cave in Wisconsin! It being a one-nighter doesn’t make this any less important, as we will be completing requirements for the Geology merit badge! I will attach a packing list here (), but I have some recommendations of my own for gear, and then some more info.
· BRING A HEADLAMP OR FLASHLIGHT AND A WARM SLEEPING BAG
· Go to Goodwill, Savers, Dollar Store, ANYTHING CHEAP to buy some clothes and shoes for the weekend. Afterward, you can just pitch them into a dumpster!
· Leave your Magic cards at HOME for this, because they will get ruined.
· Bring protective gear like elbow and knee pads if you are planning to get up close and personal with rocks and tight spaces in the cave.
· Phones WILL be allowed on drives up and back, but NOT in the cave. They will be locked in a vehicle for the duration of the campout.
· Consider bringing spending money for the campout, because there will likely be merchandise, for any gas stations/bathroom breaks, and there is even a GAME ROOM, which was listed in the prices section, so I’m assuming there are arcade games.
· There is a 18-HOLE MINI GOLF course at the cave. It costs $2.50 to have unlimited play all weekend.
· There are so many areas in this cave that it’s physically impossible to go through them all in one weekend. Take this in stride, as that means there is a very wide variety of things to explore!
· There are some areas in the cave that are not for Claustrophobics. However, this isn’t all of them, so don’t fear!
· DON’T PEE IN THE CAVE: It’s dumb, but there is a STRICT rule against it, with punishment leading to being kicked out of the cave.
· LEAVE NO TRACE: Take only pictures, leave only memories. Please oblige to this, as one inch of stalactite grows every 25 years.
· Don’t bring your Class A to the campout, it will get ruined. Bring a Class B and call it a “Cave Dye”!
