Outdoor Camping is HERE- Sign up and save the dates

Hello Scouts and Parents! Outdoor Camping Season is upon us. We need everyone interested to signup for April and May campouts this week so we can properly plan for your adventures.

April – Brownsea Camp and other adventures at the College of Wilderness Knowledge at Birch Bend Camp in St. Pierz, MN. This is a new location for our Troops. As per tradition, new Scouts will work on critical camping related requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class and even First Class Ranks! Older Scouts will spend some time helping teach the new Scouts to pay it forward for those who taught you these great Scout skills. Other time will be made available to work on Orienteering MB and other adventures in this new campground for us. Scouts are invited to bring any archery equipment they have and we will have access to the archery range during the weekend. Please check out the Scouting626.com web page for more information and to register to attend. http://www.scouting626.com/camping/camping-events/april2019-brownseacamp

May – Ripley Rendezvous (Registration is Closing April 1st at Midnight – Don’t be left out)
This is a twice in a Scouting career event. Our 14 year old Scouts had the opportunity to attend in their first year of Scouting and most are excited to return. Thousands of Minnesota nearby states’ Scouts will be attending. It’s gonna be HUGE! Scouts can choose their own adventure level, with recommendations based on age. Camp in the same place our MN National Guard trains and see demonstrations of what they prepare for. There is plenty to see and do and with live music performed for us at night. The Troop pre-paid for slots and we are turning in the unused slots for credit on Tuesday! We may be able to register more later, but we don’t want to pay for unused registration. Please signup right away to participate. More information is on the Scouting626.com web page with a link to register. http://www.scouting626.com/camping/camping-events/ripleyrendevous-may17-19

June Campout – Our traditional 4 day, 3 night June campout will be heading out to the Badlands of South Dakota. We will be backpacking in to one of the sites and seeing some amazing sites. More details will be released shortly. But for now, save the dates in your family calendar. We’ll leave early morning on Friday, June 7th and plan to return by late evening on Monday, June 10th.

Tomahawk Weeklong Summer Camp – Registration is open for Tomahawk, including Merit Badge selection and High Adventure choices. Older scouts should for sure get their High Adventure selections in by April 14th to have the best chance to get your top choices. Everyone can sign up for Merit Badges and other programs, now. Registrations and a $25 Deposits is due to the Troop by April 7th for all Scouts who did NOT join the Troops in 2019. New Scouts can decide by mid-May if they can join us, with no penalty. There is a whole new section on the Scouting626.com website for Tomahawk with links to the Merit Badge and High Adventure sign ups. http://www.scouting626.com/camping/camping-events/tomahawk

The Scouting626.com website also has Packing info and Buying Guides for Scouts and Parents.

Electric Blue Dragons Patrol seeking new members – Girls 5th-11th grade are eligible

We are the Electric Blue Dragons Patrol of the Scouts BSA - Girls Troop 7626 at St. Odilia. We have formed a brand new Scouting unit and are seeking new members to join us to grow our Patrol. Our current members range in ages 11-15 and we want to find girls looking for new opportunities to join us to plan our own program. We will be camping 1 weekend each month throughout the year and are planning other fun and service activities while we learn outdoor and life skills, as well as improve our leadership and citizenship acumen.

We have a campout coming up from Friday evening, April 26th through around noon on Sunday, the 28th. Any interested new members can join us for free to try out the program. Our Troop provides the tents and cooking equipment and we can provide loaner camping gear if needed.

We look forward to meeting you, soon!

Lydia, Erica, Rose, Aine and Keelyn

New Troop Camp Registration using Google Forms

Hello, Troop families. Sorry for the confusion in tonight’s automated email regarding May’s Ripley Rendezvous camp RSVP in Scoutbook. Our Troop leaders have recently come to the conclusion that managing Camping registrations will be easier and more convenient for everyone to manage them using Google Forms and, in some cases, SignupGenius. We are going to leverage the new www.scouting626.com website to provide information on all upcoming camps and link to their registration forms from the website. Scoutbook will still show calendar events related to camping, but instead of RSVPing in Scoutbook, there will be a link to the registration form, instead.

All Camping information can be found on the new website here. http://www.scouting626.com/camping

All Camping Events will be posted to this page on the new website. https://sites.google.com/site/troopcrew626/camping/camping-events

March’s campout is this coming weekend. We are closing the registration for the camp tonight at Midnight so that we can prepare to shop for food and determine what transportation needs we have.
March’s campout’s info and registration link can be found here: http://www.scouting626.com/camping/camping-events/marchcampout2019-gamesgalore

April’s Brownsea camping info and registration link can be found here: http://www.scouting626.com/camping/camping-events/april2019-brownseacamp

May’s Ripley Rendesvous camping info and registration link can be found here (Note: Registration for May’s campout will be closing on April 1st so we can give back any unused registration slots that the Troop has already paid for): http://www.scouting626.com/camping/camping-events/ripleyrendevous-may17-19

TOMAHAWK 2019! Deposits needed by April 7 if you plan to go!

Greetings, Scouters!

Believe it or not, Tomahawk is coming up fast. This year's dates are Saturday 27 July through Saturday 3 August.

Total cost per scout will be $325.

If you will be attending Tomahawk this year we will need a non-refundable $25 deposit by April 7.

The balance of $300 will be due by May 20. (This is the base fee for Tomahawk. There are additional fees for Older Scout Programs as participants in these programs receive instruction from specialized staff and have access to specialized program equipment. Additional fees are due at camp and are anywhere from $25 to $50 for most programs. The Ranch Hands horse program fee is $75.)

You can make checks payable to "Troop 626" and they can be handed in to troop treasurer Jason Moore at any troop meeting. If Jason is not present there will be a marked green plastic drop box for all checks.

Credit card payments are also accepted by the troop, but please be advised that all such payments will incur an added fee of 2.75% to reimburse the fee charged to the troop on all credit card transactions.

For more information on camping to include upcoming campouts and an equipment checklist, take a look at the camping section of the Scouting626 website. The Camping Events area is where we will post Tomahawk info as we have it ready. http://www.scouting626.com/camping and http://www.scouting626.com/camping/camping-events

Stay tuned for further information about Tomahawk program and merit badge sign-ups.
