Elections Monday for Order of the Arriw. Dessert and ice cream after

Hello all,

This coming Monday, February 25th, we are putting on Order of the Arrow elections at our weekly meeting. This is the most important meeting that we hold each year, and I would strongly encourage all of you to attend. To hold elections, we must have at least half of our troop present. Every scout has a vote, even if you joined the troop this year, you still have a voice in our future of leaders! After elections, there will be an exciting presentation on the high adventure options available to the older scouts at Tomahawk. After we finish the meeting, we will be eating hot, fresh dump cakes and ice cream!

Klymit Inflatable 2.5 in deep Sleeping for only $50 - 2 days only

Hello, Troop families. We don't usually send a message like this, but this deal is too good to pass up. Klymit and Massdrop are offering a fantastic deal on an inflatable sleeping pad. The specs on the pad are comparable to models twice the price. It's insulation rating is low, but the thickness is good and it packs up to the size of a Nalgine water bottle. All for only $50, today and tomorrow only. Follow the link to check it out for yourselves. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-klymit-static-v-ultralight#specs

Here is a link to a similar model on Amazon and there are comparison models if you scroll down the product page. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UW7LEOW/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B00UW7LEOW&pd_rd_w=5Ymf5&pf_rd_p=733540df-430d-45cd-9525-21bc15b0e6cc&pd_rd_wg=hUqDA&pf_rd_r=90399C8N38HZEZ10RNZK&pd_rd_r=3896082f-36ce-11e9-b07b-c7bfd0064ef8

We'll be talking more about camping equipment with new families at Monday's meeting. But, don't miss this deal if your Scout does not have a sleeping pad or are headed on a High Adventure trip this year or next.

Happy Shopping!

PLC and Parent Meetings Monday night, Feb 18th - Shoreview Community Center

Hello, Troop families. This is a reminder for many, but good info for all. We have multiple meetings Monday night at an uncommon location. The School is Closed tomorrow for the holiday, so all meetings are happening at the Shoreview Community Center on HWY 96. Beginning at 6:30pm, we have 2 meetings. The PLC will be held in the commons area. There will also be a Scoutbook introduction for new parents in room 204 at the same time. At 7:30 we will begin our monthly Parent & Committee meeting for the Troops and Crew. All Parents are welcome and encouraged to join us.

Next week, on Feb 25th we will return to our normal schedule and location for a Troop meeting in the St. Odilia Cafeteria. It is important to have as many Troop members attend as possible for our Order of the Arrow election. We will then hold separate presentations on camping. For new parents and Scouts, we will show and tell on the types of gear needed for the March and April campouts and beyond. For older Scouts, especially those currently in 7th grade or higher, we will present the latest Tomahawk High Adventure offerings to consider before registration opens to sign up for them in April and discuss how 6th and 7th graders can maximize their Tomahawk Merit Badge choices for maximum advancement and FUN!

In the meantime, please look ahead at the Event Calendar in Scoutbook and RSVP for March, April, May and June camping events.

Best regards,

Troop and Crew 626 Committee

Help Wanted - Sales Manager for First Aid Kit Fundraiser

Hello, Troop families. As mentioned at the December Court of Honor, we are looking to move ahead on a Spring fundraiser for our youth. We have the printed materials for selling RightResponse First Aid Kits with sale prices starting at $15. This would be an optional effort for the Scouts, but the Scouts themselves would receive the bulk of the profits to their Camp Bucks accounts. Scouts can earn a great deal of money toward camping fees, especially high adventure trips.

The plan is for the Troop to invest in an inventory of kits for Scouts to check out to sell door-to-door with product in hand, similar to Popcorn you might have sold for Cub Scouts. We are seeking an adult to take charge of this effort to manage the check in/check out process, managing inventory and tracking sales and incoming funds for the Troop. The committee will support the effort, but we need someone in charge and most of our current leaders do not feel they can take on an additional project at this time.

Without someone to step up to lead this effort, it will not happen. If you are interested, please reply to this email or make yourself know to our Troop Committee in the next 2 weeks. For more information, you can check out the RightResponse website at https://rightresponsefundraising.com/.

Thank you for your consideration.

Notice - Important Meetings for new Scout Parents the next 2 Mondays

Hello new Troop parents. I’m writing to let you know about 2 significant meetings coming up over the next 2 Mondays that we encourage you to make every effort to attend.

This coming Monday, February 18th, at the Shoreview Community Center in meeting room 204 at 6:30pm, we will be presenting a Scoutbook overview for new parents. I’ll also be asking your feedback on the new Troop website to get input on areas you feel we should provide more reference information for your benefit. Your Scouts are welcome to attend, but you can leave them home if that’s easier. Immediately following this meeting for new parents, we invite you to stay for our normal monthly Parent and Committee meeting where we discuss Troop business and how we can best fulfill the activity plan that our Scouts have come up with.

The following Monday, February 25th, during our normal Troop meeting, we will have a special presentation for new Scouts and Parents on Scout Camping. We will show you what needs to be packed and what equipment you might want to invest in from a quality and value standpoint ahead of the camping season ahead of us. March’s campout, we will be sleeping indoors. But we sleep outdoors as a Troop from April through October, so effective packing and equipment that will be useful across that range of temps and weather is critical for happy and comfortable Scouts at camp. Our Troop is well equipped and our leaders are great about lending out equipment to new (and forgetful) Scouts as they build up their camping equipment inventory. But, knowing what will be most useful now will help you keep an eye out for bargains and sales as we get closer to Spring outdoor camping.

Please plan to join us for both of these important meetings. As always, please reach out to Suzanne Carrington, our new member coordinator, or any of our Scout leaders with your questions and concerns.

Best regards,
Mike Bailey
Troop and Crew Committee Chair

New Scouting 626 Website for the Troops and Crew

We have been working for some time on developing a new website for the Troops and Crew. We are pleased to announce it is now in a state where we want to share it with all of our Scouting families. As part of the changeover process, we have decided to give up the old www.troop9626.com domain and replace it with a more inclusive www.Scouting626.com. This new website is hoped to be a great new resource for both the Boys 9626 Troop and the Girls 7626 Troop as well as the Crew 626. We have updated the key content from the old website and posted it on the new site.

We also have built the site to allow a wide range of authors publish and maintain important information on the site. We have even made it so that our Scouts can develop and publish content for all to see.
Check out all of the top level areas of the website using the links on the left side. Lower down are some important links to other websites that will useful to have access to.

Troop and Crew News will be published and referenceable on the Home Page and News pages. We’ve also created a page that will post all emails coming out of Scoutbook for reference purposes.
The website will continue to grow and evolve in the coming weeks as more reference and newsworthy information is developed. Please continue to make use of the site and make a point to visit often.
Best regards,

The Committee for Troops and Crew 626
