Meeting (Monday, 12/16) CANCELLED

Good afternoon everyone. Sorry for the late notice, but we are going to have to cancel this week’s meeting. We have gotten a lot of reports of people sick and very few people have the capability of overseeing the meeting. With that, I ask you all NOT to go to Ingerson Park, as it will most likely be very boring.

Have a wonderful Christmas Break, and a happy New Year!

Friends of Scouting (FOS)_Troop 9626

Thank you to those that filled out a FOS pledge card at the Court of Honor last week that will save me a lot of follow up calls in the coming weeks/months. I understand that some of you may not have known what you wanted to donate or are waiting for end of the year to figure out your taxes or maybe looking into Company matches/donations. Whatever the case may be I need to follow up with each family to make sure they have the opportunity to help support Scouting by the May 15, 2020 deadline.

The Northern Star Council, BSA set a goal for the Boys Troop 9626 which also includes the Crew 9626 of $9,850. So far, we have raised close to $3,500. If we do not meet the goal we would have to pay for Merit Badges and Rank Awards which would total about $1,250 for the year that would come out of the Troop budget.

I still have a lot of pledge cards in my possession because it was not picked up at the Court of Honor Meeting. I will be bringing these cards to upcoming Troop Meetings to pass out to you or your Scout to get returned to me. If I do not get a completed pledge card back from you, I will have to follow up with phone calls to see if you wish to participate in the FOS campaign.

Another way to participate is online with the NorthernStar Council link (see below) that I set up for our Troop:
https://sna.etapestry.com/fundraiser/NorthernStarCouncil/FamilyFriendsOfScouting2020/team.do?participationRef=1150.0.1295690849

God Bless and Happy Holidays!

Good evening, everyone, and a merry early Christmas to you! As a last meeting for the decade we will be sledding at Ingerson Park from 6:30-8:00 PM on Monday of next week. When you get there you will find a shelter that will be our base for the evening. Make sure to have your most thrilling sleds in your arms as well as a cup (we will be having hot chocolate). Also, make sure to BE PREPARED! We all know temps have been unbelievably low lately, so make sure to have your mittens, a good coat and hat and something to shield your face as well (WarmSkin Cream is a good option). If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reply to this email. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I hope to see you all there!

We invite you to this Court of Honour, with the promise that you will see many scouts and adults working hard to keep this troop alive, working to meet their goals of not only the Scouts but in other portions of their life as well. We invite you to this Court of Honour, with the promise of something unique.

Personal Management preqs

For Personal Management best to have done before coming to camp; some will be worked on following camp due to timeframes:
Please read the book prior to camp and understand the basic requirements. Bring the merit badge worksheet from meritbadge.org.

1) Selecting an item that your family might want to purchase that is a major expense; write a plan on how to save for the purchase; discuss the plan with your family; develop a shopping strategy; comparison shop identifying the source and price of the item/service.
9) Think of the hypothetical project you would like to write your project plan on.
10) Identify and research a career you might want to enter following high school or college graduation; What are the necessary qualifications, skills, education? What might it cost to prepare to enter this career (school, training, supplies)?

Post camp you will have several requirements to complete before finishing the merit badge:
2) Tracking and recording your income, expenses, and savings for 13 consecutive weeks.
8) Follow the one-week schedule you planned; keep a daily diary

2020 Friends of Scouting Campaign is Open!!

Good Evening Everyone! I have been asked to head our Friends of Scouting (FOS) Campaign which raises money to help cover the cost of Scouting for all children and maintain strong Scouting programs and camps. Without your donation, Scouting wouldn't be what it is today. Another reason to donate at this time is that if the Troop reaches our Unit Goal of $9,850, our Troops and Crew will continue to get free Merit Badges for every Scout registered. If we do not meet our goal, this would put add a big expense to our Troops budget as there are a lot of awards given out each year. Our Unit Goal needs to be met by May 15, 2020 in order to earn free Merit Badges.

At our December 9, 2019 Court of Honor, we will have a short Friends of Scouting presentation asking for your help with donations via cash, check or credit card pledges. I will have a pledge card for everyone present to fill out at this meeting. It will help me not have to make as many follow-up calls asking for help with donations if you attend the Court of Honor and fill out a pledge card. Payments do not have to be made that night but can indicate for the Council to bill you later.

Another way to donate to Friends of Scouting and meet our goal is by donating online via our Northwest Troop 9626 link (attached below) at www.Northernstar.org/Give. You can donate online at anytime starting now.
https://sna.etapestry.com/fundraiser/NorthernStarCouncil/FamilyFriendsOfScouting2020/team.do?participationRef=1150.0.1295690849

Also note that there are a lot of Companies that make matching donations, Dollars for Doers and/or Volunteer Hours grants like my US Bank employer. Each year, I do the Dollar for Doers and make some kind of matching donation to my favorite charities. Companies usually make quarterly or periodic payments that you can look into with your employer.

This is my 3rd year heading FOS and I would like to say Thank You to everyone who has donated in the past and hope that you will consider donating again this year to help support our Troop. Even if you have never donated before know that the smallest of donations would be very much appreciated it. Thank you for your consideration!

Yours in Scouting,
Jason Moore

Holiday Ball Wreath Confirmation

Good morning!

I heard from 2 scouts last night about their missing Holiday Ball wreath orders. I wanted to reach out to you because you had Holiday Ball wreaths in your order to ask you to double check you have the correct number or have already delivered the correct product. Mr. Blincow is going to the wreath distributor this morning and will purchase additional Holiday Ball wreaths if any are still missing. Please could confirm your order was correct and we won't need to purchase any additional. Being a holiday week, it would be difficult to arrange another drive to pick up product.
Thank you for supporting scouting!

Happy Thanksgiving! (And Other Items)

Good evening everybody, and a very happy Thanksgiving! We hope you all will enjoy time with family and friends in the next couple of days.

In honour of the previous statement, the PLC has agreed to not have a meeting on the 25th of November. This can be a week to relax and have some fun. This will instead be a PLC meeting to go over information in greater detail (Patrol Leaders especially should be there).

The next meeting will be December 2nd, and will involve a game of knot-tying with some spectacular prizes! Trust me, you’ll all want to be there.

We recognise there has been some mix-ups with wreaths. A number of Scouts are missing Itascan Wreaths, and they can get these at the upcoming Church Wreath Sales (11/24, 12/02, 12/08).

There has also been a mix-up between the Holiday Balls and the Centrepieces. We need everyone to check whether they don’t have the wrong one, as we had only ordered 12 Holiday Balls.

If there are any other items that Scouts are missing, please email Mrs. India Black on Scoutbook and that can be coordinated.

We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with good memories and good times, and we’ll see you on December 2nd!

Mr. Blincow, Dante Donato, Isaac Moe

Nov 11th Committee & Parent MTG 730-830 St Monica RM * Key information for recharter** please read

Greetings Parents of 626,

It is the time of year where we begin planning for the next year for our Troops and Crew. We are beginning the process to re-charter our units for 2020. On Monday, November 11th at 7:30 PM we will be meeting as a parent committee to discuss the re-charter process as well as the fees associated with the scouting programs.

As you may be aware there will be an increase in annual fees our unit is charged per scouter. In turn our unit will need to raise our annual re-charter fee to cover these increases. We will be raising the 2020 re-charter fee to $120.00 for the first scout in each family and $60.00 for each additional scout.

Another rate increase for 2021 is likely next year. In 2021 District has the option to add fees not to exceed National fees. This fee has not been set yet.
We are committed to offering the lowest price for all youth to partake in scouting while covering our costs.

Even with the discussion of increase cost in programing it is important to remember that the scouting program is an excellent value and provides so much for all of our Scouts. If you have concerns about the increases there are options available. Please reach out to your Scout Master, Crew Leader or the Committee Chair.

We encourage all parents to attend the meeting on Monday to review the plan for 2020 and welcome feedback and comments. In addition, we will be sending out a re-charter survey in the coming days. Please complete the survey to let us know your intentions for re-chartering your scout in 2020.

Thank you

Crystal Cave Campout (wee - alliteration)

Hey Troop 626,
This weekend is the cave campout at Eagle Cave in Wisconsin! It being a one-nighter doesn’t make this any less important, as we will be completing requirements for the Geology merit badge! I will attach a packing list here (), but I have some recommendations of my own for gear, and then some more info.
· BRING A HEADLAMP OR FLASHLIGHT AND A WARM SLEEPING BAG
· Go to Goodwill, Savers, Dollar Store, ANYTHING CHEAP to buy some clothes and shoes for the weekend. Afterward, you can just pitch them into a dumpster!
· Leave your Magic cards at HOME for this, because they will get ruined.
· Bring protective gear like elbow and knee pads if you are planning to get up close and personal with rocks and tight spaces in the cave.
· Phones WILL be allowed on drives up and back, but NOT in the cave. They will be locked in a vehicle for the duration of the campout.
· Consider bringing spending money for the campout, because there will likely be merchandise, for any gas stations/bathroom breaks, and there is even a GAME ROOM, which was listed in the prices section, so I’m assuming there are arcade games.
· There is a 18-HOLE MINI GOLF course at the cave. It costs $2.50 to have unlimited play all weekend.
· There are so many areas in this cave that it’s physically impossible to go through them all in one weekend. Take this in stride, as that means there is a very wide variety of things to explore!
· There are some areas in the cave that are not for Claustrophobics. However, this isn’t all of them, so don’t fear!
· DON’T PEE IN THE CAVE: It’s dumb, but there is a STRICT rule against it, with punishment leading to being kicked out of the cave.
· LEAVE NO TRACE: Take only pictures, leave only memories. Please oblige to this, as one inch of stalactite grows every 25 years.
· Don’t bring your Class A to the campout, it will get ruined. Bring a Class B and call it a “Cave Dye”!

Have Fun and Be Prepared!
-Jack Blincow, Camp SPL

· Schedule
6:00 A.M. Saturday Morning: Arrive and get ready to depart
6:30 A.M. Get car assignments and depart
Sometime Between 7:00 and 10:30: Bathroom
SATURDAY PLANS TBD

SUNDAY
Wake up, clean up, breakfast, go home, be back by 2:00 PM

Storage room Link that works

Hi everyone,

My name is Mason Anderson, and I am the project manager for our troop. I am currently planning on coordinating a project where we will clean up and organize our troop's storage room! I would like to hear your opinion on how YOU want to see the space improved. If you have any recommendations about things that you would want or need in the room, please let me know!

Attached to this email is the link to a Google Form. When you click on the link, there will be a place to put your opinions on what you think would be a good improvement to the Troop and Pack's storage closet. Any suggestions you may have are welcome.

The annual wreath sale deadline is quickly approaching. All orders and money are due Monday Oct. 21.

Called family and friends near and far? Wreaths can be shipped. The gift order form is attached and on our website: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1FdqwN6TnN5-DLLHCE4wZdu0myBqdRNIX

The long weekend is a great time to add to your orders. Hope you're able to get out selling.

See you on Monday with your completed, double checked form and money.

Reminder that we are asking all parents to stay while their scout’s order is verified. This is to make sure everything is correct and paid for.

BSA changes that will affect Troop 626. Please read

BSA MEMBERSHIP FEE TO INCREASE, RECHARTERING DELAYED, ADDITIONAL HARD COPY AUTHORIZATIONS REQUIRED
We want to share some recently released information from the National BSA organization. We were informed in late September that the national member registration fee will likely be increased for 2020. Although we have not been informed what the new fee will be or of the full details behind the change, it is a move to put the fee more in line with actual costs versus those subsidized by philanthropic efforts. This is a change happening in many organizations to reflect shifts in the giving community and consumer preferences (paying full costs up front rather than coming back for additional, optional requests). We have been piloting a version of this fee model in one of our districts for the past few years.

This will obviously affect our rechartering and new member registrations in the near future. We apologize for the challenges this creates but are committed to do our best to minimize the disruption as we support sustainable Scouting operations. This will include increasing the amount and availability of our current registration scholarship funds to help ensure all children can gain the benefits of Scouting.

As we continue to seek answers, we believe the best path forward is to delay Unit Charter Renewal until we know what the new fee is and we can effectively communicate it. Recharter trainings scheduled for October are now delayed. As soon as we receive information on the fees, timelines and process, we will share it directly with unit leaders.

Leaders will also receive new, required authorization paperwork for criminal background checks from National BSA that will need to be submitted in hard-copy form as part of the rechartering process.

We will share membership fee details here as soon as they become available, which we have been told will likely to be in late October. Please continue to watch this website and our council communications for updates.

Even though we face challenges, our strong focus is, and continues to be, welcoming youth and families to join Scouting. Thousands of new youth and families will join our program over the coming days and weeks, Scouts BSA camp attendance was up, and we’re excited to share with everyone the fun, adventure and life-enriching experiences of Scouting.

We are hosting coffee and donuts at masses tomorrow and have several people signed up to help. THANK YOU!

NEW OPPORTUNITY
We will be offering a pre-sale of the wreaths and first aid kits to the parishioners too. Any scout that signs up to help at masses this weekend will be given a cut of the sales collected. This is an opportunity for the community to get wreaths from us rather than the local hardware store. It also gives then the chance to order what they want and not just what is offered in Nov sale dates.

2019 Wreath Sales Information

Good morning,
Monday night we kicked off our annual wreath fundraiser and scouts picked up their sales flyer, 2-part sales form and an information sheet. If you missed that meeting those forms will be available next Monday at the regular troop meeting. Or if you want them sooner, you can reply to this email and arrange a time to pick them up at my house.

Please review the information sheet for process and important due dates. Some things to highlight: All sales need to be recorded on the 2-part 11x17 sheet, not on the sales flyer. The 2-part sheet will be turned in and verified on October 21. The yellow copy will be returned to you as your sales receipt. All money for all sales is also due October 21. We cannot order wreaths that are not paid for.

Visit www.scouting626.com/wreath-sale to see the full catalog. You can also download copies of the sales flyer and information sheet.

Our Troop’s goal is to fully support our annual budget with annual chartering dues and one annual required fundraiser, wreaths. If each scout sells at least $500 in product, we will make that goal! In addition to helping fund weekend camp outs, a cash bonus, having fun and meeting your neighbors, selling wreaths can help scouts improve their communication and salesmanship skills. If selling wreaths isn’t in your plans this fall, we are offering a guilt free, no questions asked, in lieu of wreath sales buyout option to support the annual operating costs. This guilt free, no questions asked, in lieu of wreath sales buy out is $175 and can be turned in on or before October 21.

We are also continuing to sell first aid kits from our spring/summer fundraiser and we partner with our Cub Scout Den to offer popcorn as well. If you are interested in selling either of those please contact Anne Moe for first aid kits and I can get you a popcorn order form. Popcorn orders and money are also due 10/21.

Thank you for supporting scouting!
Carolyn

Fall Festival Signup - Adults badly needed

Hello, Scouting families. We are the final countdown for Fall Festival weekend at St. Odilia. We have nearly all of the youth spots filled with just the mid-afternoon shift on Saturday having open youth spots. Where we are in greatest need is from parents to help fill shifts. Our youth do a great job of managing the games with our Service Coordinators, Stephen and Mason, in charge of distributing crew to the games and keeping them stocked with prizes. 2 Adults will be in charge of the Scouting Mobile Archery Range, ensuring safe use by all participants. The others will float in helping out where needed and covering the Recruiting booth. This entails answering questions of interested families and sharing their stories of how Scouting has affected your children.

Please review the open slots this weekend and compare it against your family schedule to see if you can possibly assist us in our efforts to serve our Chartered Organization, raise money for our Church Community and recruit more families to join our Scouting programs across all school ages. Here is the signup link. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E084BA5AC2CA13-fall2

A reminder to all volunteers to please wear your uniform when working your shifts, either your Class B Eagle T-Shirt or your Tan uniform shirt. There is rain predicted both days, so please plan for the weather. The games are run rain or shine. Adult leaders are encouraged to wear their uniform to be more visible as an adult leader and help with recruiting. Show up at least 10 minutes early for your shift to check in and determine where you will be needed to start your shift. Please bring a great attitude and enthusiasm to give a great experience to our customers and demonstrate what it means to be a Scout.

If you are an adult signed up to help this weekend, please take some time to review the safe and cheerful handling of the Scouting Mobile Archery Booth. I have provided links below.

Help needed Saturday Service Project

Dear Scouts and parents,
There is a service project this Saturday August 24 from 9am to 3pm. You do not have to work the whole time, it can go by shifts or if help as much as you can. There is very little help that is going on for this service project. The more the quicker and easier this project can go. If scouts and families can show up that would be awesome.

Thank you,
Stephen Johnson

Newspapers needed for Eagle project

Dear Troop 9626,
I am working on my Eagle project, I would really appreciate if I could use any spare newspapers that anyone has for my project?
My project is making the path between the priest’s house and st. Odilia. I’m clearing and planting around the path to make it look pretty. I need the newspaper for the fabric for planting because newspaper is more biodegradable and is gonna to be used as a natural weed barrier.
Thank you,
Stephen Johnson (Troop 9626)

St.Odilia Chair Cleaning Service Project Aug 24

Hello everyone,

Attached to this email is a sign up for a St.Odilia Chair Cleaning service project that will take place in the courtyard on Saturday, August 24th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this service project we will be using steam cleaners to clean all of the chairs in the courtyard. This project will take a lot of hands to complete so if you and your family can help out that would be much appreciated!!

Also, IF YOU OWN A STEAM CLEANER AND WOULD BE WILLING TO LEND IT TO THE SCOUTS FOR THE DAY, THAT WOULD BE EXCELLENT!

Even if you are not able to be at the service project, we would still be able to put your steam cleaner to good use! :)

I am hoping to see many of you there to help out!!

Lost at Tomahawk - retainer in dark green plastic case

Sorry for the blast to everyone on this email, but am trying to ensure everyone who went to Tomahawk receives it.

Dante misplaced his retainer while at Tomahawk. He thinks he left it in his tent, but he has gone through the tent and does not have it. If anyone has or has seen a dark green plastic retainer case (hopefully with retainer inside) with Dante Donato's name and address on a sticker on the outside, please let me know.

thanks!

Tomahawk Recap With Your Scout

Greetings Parents,

Now that the dust has settled from camp, we want to check in and see if your scout had a good week. They all grew stronger and more self confident as the week went on and we are very proud of them. They were stellar examples of the Scout Oath and Law.

Sometimes after camp, issues come out to parents that the adult leaders were unaware of. Please check with your scout to see if any issues or problems that were not addressed or might not have come to the attention of the adult leadership.

Mrs. Rafter and I value all feed back to make both of our troops the best they can be.

Yours In Scouting,

Paul Blincow

Back from Tomahawk Notes – Committee Meeting Monday in the Blincow family back yard at 7pm

Hello Troop families. We’re only just back from Tomahawk and now need to look ahead to our busy Fall season planning. I’ve tried to put as much info into one email so as not to bombard with multiple messages, so please scan this whole list for items that affect your scout.

Post Tomahawk items
If you have a Troop tent and/or a tarp, please click this link and follow the directions for care and cleaning of those items. (http://www.scouting626.com/camping/troop-tent-instructions) We had a dry late week, so moisture should not be a challenge, but tents should be setup and swept out and then re-assembled, checking for all needed parts. There are now tags on the tent bags with a checklist of the items that should be included. Before returning the tent, please fill out the form on the website and provide information about the state of the tent you have. If the number on the bag does not match the number on the tent, please let us know that as well. Return the tent at any Scout activity before the end of the month, please. (http://www.scouting626.com/camping/tent-check-in-form)

Tie Dye Shirts – If your scout came back with a white T-shirt in a plastic bag, they made a Tie Dye Troop shirt at camp. It will need to be rinsed and dried properly. I've linked instructions for how to care for the shirt for the first time. https://www.wikihow.com/Wash-Tie-Dyed-Fabric

You may find items you don’t recognize or are missing. Belongings get left everywhere or can be picked up by others accidentally. Please wash and return any items you don’t recognize. There were a number of personal items left behind at St. Os on Saturday. They are in one of the trailers and will be on display at the next Troop meeting.
Please speak with your scout about their experiences at camp. With 40 Scouts and a handful of adults, we can’t be everywhere at all times. If your Scout shares any experiences that create questions or concerns in your mind, please share them with us as leaders. We want to know their and your feedback.

The Troop Court of Honor is coming up on August 26th. Awards earned throughout the Summer and at camp will be awarded that night. More details to follow, soon. If your Scout did not complete their Merit Badges or have some last items to complete with regard to rank, there is a short window to complete them in time for awarding this month. We will host Boards of Review on Aug 12th for any needing them. After that night our Scouts and adults will begin preparing for the award ceremony so any awards submitted after that night may not be awarded in August. Many 1st year Scouts have Second Class requirements for Earning and Saving money and tracking physical activity that must be done at home. If you have questions, please reach out to one of the Scoutmasters.

Adult Committee and Parent Meeting on Monday night, Aug. 5th
Due to scheduling conflicts with many of our youth leaders, their PLC planning meeting happened on the drive back from camp. So, there is NO youth PLC meeting on Monday, Aug 5th. Parents and Adult Leaders are invited to attend our planning meeting in the Blincow back yard beginning at 7pm with a social event to follow. Bring a lawn chair and any beverages you wish to have or share. No children, please. The address is 2910 Hamline Ave N. in Roseville. It is the same home that wreaths were picked up the past 2 years.

A key focus for this month’s meeting is planning for the St. Odilia Fall Festival as well as our Fall Fundraiser. Your input and feedback are greatly appreciated.
For adult leaders with a position of responsibility, please complete the "Monthly Committee Check-In Form" by Monday night even if you cannot attend the meeting this month. (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1wk8XQxkvm1IjCOyfmQEmEbIGAFY1-LchBdl5HZz-dWs/edit). This form will be our working "source of truth" for all who cannot attend the meetings. It will also give you the chance to give a report out if you are unable to attend.

Thank you all for a great Tomahawk week! Thank you for sharing your Scout with us and allowing us to give them a great experience. Thank you to the parents who visited and provided transportation. Thank you to the adult leaders who gave of their time to provide great, unique experiences that only Summer camp can provide.

Mike Bailey on behalf of the Troops and Crew Committee

Tomahawk Email Update

Greetings to all scouts and parents! We have a couple changes/additions to the previous email that got sent out about details for Tomahawk.

There is a form that was not on the previous email. The medical form that all of you need for Tomahawk is at the bottom of this email. If you have not already, we need the completed copies of forms “A”, “B” and “C” with your doctor’s signature, with your insurance card on the front and back. You cannot go to Tomahawk without these components.

A change in plan- Electronics ARE allowed on the car ride up to Tomahawk. Scouts can listen to music or play games while on the way up to and down from Tomahawk. Bear in mind, however, that electronics are not allowed in camp.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact these people on Scoutbook:

Ryan Moore
Erika Colby
Dante Donato

We’ll see you all on Saturday!

You must bring two copies of the form, which should consist of completed copies of parts "A", "B" and "C". And front and back of your health insurance card. Medications should also be turned into Mrs. Moe on the day we leave, (Saturday, July 26th) which should be in their original bottles with labels, as well as the scout’s name on it.

Weather at Tomahawk on the week we are there is in the upper 70's to low 80's with a low of about 60. Though we do have nice temperatures all through the week there is quite a bit of rain expected, so everyone please make sure to bring your rain gear.

Emergency Contacts: You can call or text Mr. Blincow at (612)-812-6170, Mr. Bailey at (651)-797-9100, Mrs. Rafter at (612)-296-9256 or the Emergency Landline at the Tomahawk Administration office, at (715)-354-3841. Text messages are usually known to get through easier than phone calls as our reception is limited around the area. If you have called and could not successfully make the call, we would ask you to please wait about three hours for a return call from either, as they might not be in a range with good reception.

Any scouts who did not complete the swim tests at the meetings offered will have the opportunity to do them at Tomahawk.

For packing, your gear should be in a waterproof plastic bin as it will stay near your tent all week. For what to pack, please see the packing list attached to this email. Scouts should have a day-pack in which to carry with them all around Tomahawk, which should include the ten essentials, rain gear tops and bottoms, a flashlight, and water bottle, your Scout Handbook and maybe a book for a fun way of passing time.

If anyone has any restrictions to food for any reason, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Rafter and she will make it known to the Tomahawk Staff.

TIMELINE- - - -

Saturday Morning (July 27)
8:00 AM- Drivers and Adult/Scout Leaders should arrive, giving enough time to prepare and exchange any last-minute information.
8:15 AM- People who did not receive Bear/Weather Training at the meeting, please arrive at this time. It is imperative that you do so, so as not to delay when we're scheduled to leave.
8:30 AM- All scouts need to arrive at this time in Class A Uniform with neckerchief. There will be a little time to organize gear and check in with Ryan Moore and Erika Colby, your SPL's for Tomahawk.
9:00 AM- Mrs. Moe will be collecting all medication at this time. This would also be the last few minutes people can put their bins inside the trailer.
9:15 AM- Scouts form up to receive any further information including car assignments from your SPL's.
9:30 AM- Troop departs for Tomahawk.

Saturday Afternoon (August 3)
12:00-1:00 PM- Troop arrives back at St. Odilia Parking Lot. WE will have your scout call you when we leave Tomahawk with an ETA.

We are stopping at a park for a picnic, so no money will be needed for lunch purposes.

Scouts might want to bring some good spending money, as there is a trading post in which Scouts can buy candy and souvenirs during their free time.

If anyone has any questions about any logistics or other purposes, don't hesitate to contact these people via Scoutbook:
Ryan Moore
Erika Colby
Dante Donato

We hope you all pack well and we hope you have a wonderful scouting experience!

ACTION REQUIRED: Tomahawk Health Forms and Med list

Hello Parents and Scouter
I know you have received several emails over the last few weeks regarding Tomahawk. I am hopeful that this will be the last regarding health forms.
I have entered everyone's health forms under your scouts profile. (You can also manage and update this under the profile tab, it does not require additional access in scout book)
This will allow leadership to easily search for health forms for future camp outs and make sure we are compliant.
We have 39 scouts and 22 scouters attending Tomahawk this year for a total of 71! That is a lot to track for a few people.
Each ANNUAL health form is good for 1 year until the END of the month it is dated. Please review scout book to see if you require new forms; Camp goes until AUGUST 3rd 2019: your health form would need to be dated 8/1/18 to be used for Tomahawk this year. BSA frequently asked questions about health forms can be found here;
https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/ahmr/medical-formfaqs
Remember part C REQUIRES a health care provider exam and signature; this form is needed for camps > 72 hours
I have received several single copies of health forms. We will leave 1 copy at Tomahawk; this is a STATE LAW FOR WI. (71X5=lost of $$ on photo copying for the troop or a generous volunteer.) It makes it much more manageable for each family to manage their own copying and tracking. Thank you for your help.
Health forms A & B MUST be completed in full and/or attach a copy of immunization records

Please review ANY medication with the person collecting health forms. We keep a medication LOG per WI STATE LAW that is turned in at the end of camp. ALL medications should come with their most recent ORIGINAL LABEL if it is a prescription.
Please send Over The Counter (OTC) medication in the original bottle with your child's name on it and make sure it is not expired.
Lastly, please review any medical conditions, symptoms or change you think the staff should be aware of prior to camp.

We want to be able to provide your scout with the BEST possible care while they are with us!
Lastly, we recommend that your Scan or make an additional copies so you have them if they are required for a future camp.

Thank you for your cooperation!
I will be collecting Forms again July 22nd and I am looking forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

Anne Moe

Tomahawk Prep Meeting - Monday July 15th (Please attend if you are signed up for camp)

Hello, Troop families. If you and/or Scout is attending Tomahawk in just a few short weeks, the next 2 Monday Troop meetings will have critical importance to attend. Please make every effort.
This coming Monday July 15th, Scouts will be presented with Animal and Weather Safety training. This training is mandatory for youth to receive prior to arriving at camp. If you miss this meeting, we will need you to arrive on our departure morning an additional 30 minutes early so you can still receive the training before we depart. Parents, we have a separate presentation for you this Monday to share information about how you can help your scout prepare for camp and how you can support them to have a great camp experience. This parent meeting is especially important if this is your Scout’s first Tomahawk experience, so please make every effort to attend. This parent meeting will be in the St. Monica’s room following the Troop meeting opening ceremony and announcements.

Over the next 2 Mondays, you can bring the completed BSA Health Forms, Parts A, B, and C as well as copies of your insurance card. Please remember, we need 2 PRINTED sets of all documents. We do NOT have access to a free printer or copier, so emailing us a scan or only bringing 1 copy presents a challenge for us. One set will be left at Tomahawk by WI state law. The other copy will remain in the Troop’s files for all scouting activities for the next year. (It is also a good idea to scan these as a backup, just in case.) All youth and adult participants up at camp for more than 72 hours needs to have the medical forms. The form can be downloaded, here. https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-001_ABC.pdf
You can also bring your Scout’s medications and instructions to turn in early as well. This will save time on our departure morning. Please follow the instructions provided in previous emails about medication. We have some very strict guidelines that we MUST follow as leaders to comply with WI state law and BSA guidelines.

New and used Class B (Grey Troop) T-Shirts will also be available at the next 2 meetings. Scouts attending Tomahawk must wear either their Tan, Class A uniform or the Grey Troop shirt when outside of our campsites at camp, unless they are at the beach. Please make sure that your Scout has 2-3 grey shirts that fit them, packed for camp. Each youth is given 1 new shirt in the spring of their 1st year in the Troop. If you have not yet received your new shirt, please request it at a meeting. You are also entitled to 1 free used shirt if we have one in a size that will work. Additional New shirts are only $7 to purchase and we have sizes from Youth Large to 4XL. If you have used shirts in good condition that no longer fit a scout in your family, we ask you to please donate them back to the Troop to distribute to those that can use them. If you have used shirts to turn in, you may select an equal number of larger used shirts to upgrade their size. We will travel to camp in our Class A, tan uniforms with Troop neckerchief. We will also have many meals and attend ceremonies in the tan uniforms while at camp. If anyone needs a new troop neckerchief, those can also be purchased for $7 at any meeting.

Finally, if you would like to visit us at camp, you are more than welcome, especially if your Scout would appreciate the support. We just need to know when you plan to be there so we can arrange for meals. Here is a link to tell us your plan. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080D48A8A82FA5FE3-parents

Hello All Scouts Scouter and Parents!
Tomahawk is just around the corner and we are in the final count down to a greatly anticipated week!
Health information will be collected at the July 22nd meeting in order to expedite our departure on July 27th.
The following items are necessary for every person camping
I will have a check in table available to go over all necessary information with parents, scouts and scouter at the July 22nd meeting
• Each person attending a BSA camp >72 hours consecutively will need all 3 parts (A, B, C Health forms attached).
• This will require a history and physical within the last 13 months that is signed by your medical provider; ( ie you would need a History and Physical dated after July 3 2018 for this year's tomahawk camp)
• 2 copies of health forms are needed prior to departure for camp
(We recommend you scan these forms to retain throughout the year if they are needed again)
• 2 copies of your medical insurance cards front and back
• Please complete the attached Medication forms and bring ALL medication that will be given at camp
Prescriptions should be sent with current labels, (You can ask your pharmacy to print duplicate labels) and over the counter medications need to come in their original bottles. Please bring in a ZIP LOC plastic bag with your scout’s name on it.
• I am happy to collect and retain medication for this camp out at the meeting.
• If you have specific medical /medication concerns regarding your scout I will be happy to discuss at this time as well.
